Sweet Quinny

Our little Quinn is 3 months old. She is growing fast and looks bigger to me everyday, yet still tiny compared to many 3 month old children. She is a smiley little baby and even giggled a little bit this week when I tickled her. She loves Ellie and is always smiling while she watches her. Ellie gives her attention all the time and Quinn loves when she does. She is easy going and goes with the flow (you kind of have to be around here). When she does want something she lets her voice be known. She eats great and sleeps through the night. Her naps are sporadic with a small to good one in the morning depending on our day and usually a good one in the afternoon. She goes to bed around 6:30 to 7:00 each night and sleeps a solid 12 to 13 hours. She has discovered that her hands can grab things recently and loves to reach out and grab her hanging animals on her playmat. She is also a good traveler and has adapted great to our on the go lifestyle. She is also a hit at church and everyone loves to snuggle her. I tried to weigh her on the scale with me yesterday and is supposedly a little over 10 pounds. We are loving watching her change and grow and look forward to what the next month will bring as she does.

Weekly Wednesday Adventures

We went to our weekly Wednesday story time at the Author's Squad again this week. We read about apples and caterpillars and then made our own apple with a caterpillar coming out of it. Ellie did a great job making her craft with some help from Mommy. We then walked over to the pet store to see some of the pets, which Ellie loves to look at. It was a great Wednesday adventure that was fun for Ellie and completely free!

Splashpark Adventures

We ventured to the splashpark again as we love it there. On Tuesday we met our friend Jansen and had a great time playing and riding the train. On Thursday we got to meet up with our friends Laine and Seth. Seth was with us last summer while his mommy worked and this year I think Ellie was surprised to see how he could walk with her and talk to her. We had a great time both days and Ellie was all over that place exploring everywhere. She gets more brave and independent each time we go and is now willing to stand under buckets that dump water on you.

Our Buddy Ethan

Last week we got to see our buddy Ethan for lunch. His mommy has been working a lot this summer so we have not been able to have many playdates, but we do squeeze in a lunch when we can. Ethan's sister Kendall is just 3 weeks older than Quinn and we know they will be friends just like Ellie and Ethan.

Holden Family Get Together

A couple weeks ago we got together with Ben's family. We all met at his sister's in Waxhaw and had a cookout and got to visit for a little bit. We don't all get together often at one time so it was nice to be able to spend time with each other and for Ellie to play with her cousins.

Cow Appreciation Day

Today is Cow Appreciation Day at Chick Fil A. If you dress up like a cow you get a free combo meal and we could not pass that up. Last year we missed the day so this year I was sure to do it. Chick Fil A makes it super easy by giving you all the print outs, so I got out my aft supplies and got busy cutting and gluing. Quinn even participated, but I made all her pieces myself since the printed ones were a little big. We got there a little before 12 and it was not crowded at all. We all had a great free family lunch!

Splashpark With New Friends

We went to the splash park this week with some new and old friends. We are part of a family small group that meets once a month and there are lots of little girls running around with the first boy in the group due to arrive this week. We are loving getting to know families that are in the same stage of life with kids all the same ages and more to come. We are having a great time getting to know each other and all the moms are getting together with our little ones throughout the month. This week we met up with Lydia and her mom and grandma as well as our good friend Baby Laine, as we like to call her, and her mom. Lydia just turned 3 so her and Ellie had a great time even though it was a little overcast. The splash park was basically all to themselves since it was overcast and then they enjoyed the playground and the train. We are looking forward to some more fun playdates in the weeks to come.

Ellie is a little hidden, she is next to Lydia, but it was the only picture of all of us.

First Swimming Lesson

Ellie has attended her first swimming lesson with Miss Maggie. She did OK. Miss Maggie is great with kids and has been doing this for quite a while. She works with the little ones at one of our church campuses and Ellie loves her. At swimming however Ellie wanted to voice her opinion and would often tell Miss Maggie "No" when asked to do something. At one point Ellie was whining so Quinn and I left and that seemed to be better. Next time we are going to drop Ellie off for her lesson so she can be totally focused. We are looking forward to some more lessons as Ellie loves the pool and is turning into our little fish!

4th of July Fun

We had a very relaxing 4th of July. We went to the park and Ben made his excellent ribs. Ellie and I also made our 4th of July cupcakes and this year she did the sprinkles (a little messy, but totally worth having her do it). We then of course went to fireworks. Ben and I have gone to fireworks every year we have been together and it is the one thing we pack up the kids late at night for. Ellie did a great job staying up and as you will see in the pictures Quinn didn't crack an eye. We were so happy to spend the time together as our summer has been very busy and it was nice to have Ben home from work for the day!
